Purpose
Combine both aspects of typographic design – expressiveness, and clarity in a poster consisting of the lyrics in a chosen song. The final outcome is a screen-based 24×18 poster. Must use two type families of various weights. Should be readable from afar and interesting when looking up close.
Song Selection
The selected song for this project is XS by Rina Sawayama. She is a British singer of Japanese origin and is known to perform in pop by mixing up various styles. Rina’s songs are usually based on social commentary. This particular song is a tribute to rock and the 2000’s RNB style is making fun of capitalism in an alternative “sickening word”.
Moodboard
After the song selection, I started brainstorming the color palette and visuals based on my own perception and music video. Read more about the references by moving the mouse over the X’s. The lyrics have “loud whisper”, and in order to emphasize it, I used white type, which draws the eye of the viewer.
